The Lumen BioMed Interactive Research Programme is a six-week research course through which students learn about research methods and media literacy, eventually producing a research poster.
At the end of the programme, students will have the chance to present their posters to their peers and receive a certificate recognizing their course participation.
Furthermore, students' research posters will be posted in this website, our official instagram and LinkedIn accounts by the end of the course!
Throughout the programme, students will be constantly guided and supervised by the programme's Executive Director, which will make their learning experiences more organized, insightful, and aligned with professional academic standards.

Do I need prior research experience to join?
Answer: Not at all! The programme is designed to guide you from the basics of research types to advanced poster presentation, regardless of your starting point.
What topics can I choose for my biomedical research question?
Answer: You have a wide range of flexibility within the biomedical sciences (e.g., genetics, public health, neurology, pharmacology). We will work with you in Week 1 to refine your specific topic.
What are the requirements?
Answer:
Demonstrate personal interest in the biomedical sciences.
Reflect a continuous involvement in the programme by submitting the weekly mini-assignments on time.
Strictly follow the schedule and keep the ongoing work up to date.
What is "Media Literacy" and why is it included?
Answer: Media literacy teaches you how to evaluate scientific sources, spot misinformation, and ensure the data you use in your research is valid, credible, and peer-reviewed.
How much time should I dedicate to the programme outside of weekly meetings?
Answer: Expect to spend about 3–5 hours per week on independent reading, data collection, and working on your assignments—particularly during Week 3, which is a dedicated independent research week.
What happens if I miss a deadline or a session?
Answer: Consistent involvement is key to keeping up with the fast-paced 6-week timeline. If you have an emergency, you must communicate with the Executive Director ahead of time to stay on track.
Can I work in pairs or groups, or is this strictly individual?
Answer: To ensure everyone gets a personalized mentorship experience and their own certificate, all research projects are individual.
What are the criteria for receiving the final certificate?
Answer: Certificates are awarded to students who fulfill all weekly requirements, submit assignments on time, and successfully present their poster at the weekend Symposium.
What platforms will we be using for the course?
Answer: We will primarily use Google Classroom for submitting assignments and receiving feedback, along with Zoom and Discord for our weekly sessions.
